Legally when an individual wants to buy a gun through the mail they must have it shipped to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder. However if you do not have an FFL you can still order online.

First find a local gun store or other FFL holder in your area and get their permission to have a gun shipped to them from J&G. Most dealers will do a transfer for you for a small fee.

Second have them send us a signed in ink, legible, copy of their FFL via fax, email, or mail. (C&R licenses can be mailed, or are also accepted via fax or email if a copy of the driver’s license with matching name is included.) Please include the phone number and contact name. This only needs to be sent once as it is kept on file until it expires.

Third once we have the FFL on file you can order online being sure to enter the FFL’s info in the space for shipping address and your info in the space for billing address. We can then ship to the dealers place of business and you can pick up your gun from them meeting all local state and federal laws. If you order and we have no FFL on file we will email you back explaining that you need an FFL causing your order to be delayed. All items are subject to prior sale, an order is not considered complete until all documents are received.

NOTE: If you are concerned about quantity running out or reserving a one-of-a-kind item then you would need to call us. You can use a credit card to reserve an item immediately we will charge your card and hold it for a limited time while you arrange to have an FFL transfer dealer send their license as soon as possible. We will not hold an item indefinitely.

For in person purchases in our showroom, anyone over 18 can buy long gun ammo or over 21 can buy handgun ammo after providing some official ID such as drivers license, state ID card, passport, or military ID to establish date of birth. The ID number and date of birth are entered on your purchase invoice. No ID is required for shipped orders, although a signature of someone over 21 is required at delivery.

We will ship ammo to anyone over 21, directly to your home address if you like. When placing the order either by phone or online at jgsales.com you will be asked to make a statement of your date of birth, and that you are complying with all applicable laws. Also, an adult over the age of 21 needs to be present at the delivery address to sign for the ammo when delivered. Persons over 18 but under 21 may order ammo for a long gun, but must have it shipped to a location where someone over 21 can sign for it. They cannot order handgun ammo. Some states have additional restrictions.

A lot of military ammo made last century, approximately up until the 1970’s used a salt type compound in the primer which helped the primer last longer. However when the round is fired some of the residue from the primer gets on the gun, and salt compounds draw moisture and cause rust faster than normal, thus these rounds are called corrosive ammo.

Many people prefer to carry concealed instead of open, and most states require a license or permit to do this. Even in states that have permitless “Constitutional Carry”, a concealed carry license can often simplify the process of purchasing a firearm in person at your dealer by taking the place of the NICS check (if the permit is issued by the state you are purchasing in). Even in states such as Arizona that do not require a Concealed Carry License in order to legally carry concealed, the training and instruction received to obtain the license can be very helpful. Concealed Carry Licenses are not needed to order firearms from J&G that will be transferred though a different FFL, since the actual transfer is done by your local dealer, not by J&G Sales, however if you purchase in person at J&G and have a valid Arizona permit, the NICS check is waived.

You need to clean your gun soon after each time you use corrosive ammo, preferably the same day especially if you live in a moist climate. The key to preserving your gun from corrosion is to clean it well soon after use. The methods vary, some people just use copious amounts of gun cleaning solvent, some use soapy water, some use Windex (since ammonia helps neutralize the salts). All should work, the key being not to wait too long before you clean it.

Berdan primers have two flash holes between the inside of the case and the primer, one at each side. Boxer primers have one single flash hole in the center. The difference is important for reloaders since cases using Boxer primers can usually be reloaded, cases using Berdan primers are not easily reloadable.

C&R means Curio & Relic. It is a classification made by the BATF of certain firearms, mainly military guns over 50 years old. Collectors who obtain a C&R license can order these firearms directly without having to go through a FFL dealer to acquire them. We need a signed copy on file in order to send a gun to the licensee. C&R licenses can be mailed, or are also accepted via fax or email if a copy of the driver’s license with matching name is included.) Please include the phone number and contact name. There is no Federal gun registration, however some states have local registration. For now the government considers it sufficient that the form 4473 is kept by the gun dealer for 20 years after the sale.

FFL means Federal Firearms License. This is issued by the BATF to those who deal in firearms. It is illegal to deal in firearms without an FFL. An FFL is required in order to receive a gun delivered to you through the mail. We need a signed hard copy or a legible fax on file in order to send a gun to the licensee.

There was a ban enacted by congress on the manufacture of assault rifles. This ban expired September 2004, and features such as bayonet lug, flash hider, and folding stocks are again permitted on US made guns. There are still bans on many imported rifles with assault rifle features, and they cannot be brought into the USA.

The current imported rifles of these types that are for sale are not considered imported assault rifles. They have been assembled in the US using a certain number of US made parts, so they do not fall under the bans which apply to imported rifles.

There are some limited methods by which we can ship ammo to AK or HI. For larger amounts we can ship the ammo to a freight forwarding company of your choice in the lower 48, and they will ship the ammo by truck or boat to your state.

It clearly says that your right to own a firearm is not to be infringed. Every law congress passes restricting firearms is just that – an infringement.

Not at the Federal level. There was a law enacted by congress in 1994 to ban the future manufacture of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds for civilians. This law expired in September 2004 and companies can now manufacture large capacity magazines again. Some states have gone further and implemented their own bans. For this reason we do not ship magazines that hold over 10 rounds to some states.

Machine guns are not illegal in Arizona where we are located, nor in several other states. Yes, there is more red tape to wade through to purchase one than there is for other firearms, but any adult that can pass the background check is eligible.

In Arizona there is no waiting period. The only wait is the background check itself to buy a gun, which takes normally 5 to 20 minutes and is done by phone. You can leave with your firearm purchase that same day, unless you are not an AZ resident. Non-AZ residents cannot purchase handguns in person, and the purchase of longuns depends on your state.

No, J&G Sales has only one level of pricing, the price advertised is the price for anyone, dealer or individual. Occasionally there are further unadvertised discounts for large volume ammo buyers based on the quantity of the order.

Sorry, we do not know which dealers in your area will do a transfer for you. It is up to you to find one that has terms acceptable to you. For privacy reasons we do not give out information about which dealers in your area we ship to, since not every dealer does transfers and they may not want us to divulge their information.

No, we do not have any type of payment plan or lay a way installment plan. All purchases must be paid in full at the time of transaction.

To give you the opportunity to buy them if you need them Some items are not in high demand and it is not feasible to keep them on hand, for example some calibers of ammo are not very common But occasionally people still request them, so rather than just not carry them at all, we advertise that we can get them, this helps people get items that are hard to find Also, since many print ads must be prepared several weeks or months in advance of publication, occasionally we sell out of something before the ad can
be updated.

It depends. We sell surplus ammo sometimes that was made in the 1930s or 40s and it still performs adequately. All ammo, new or old, should only be fired in firearms that you know are safe. With old ammo there are sometimes duds or misfires, but this does not necessarily mean the ammo is unsafe.

Yes, orders over 150lbs have a special discounted rate from UPS that will save you quite a bit off the normal rates. There is another rate discount when your order reaches 500lbs.

To buy ammo in person you need to be over 18 for longun ammo, and over 21 for handgun ammo, be free of a criminal record that prevents you from owning guns or ammo, and provide ID to prove age.

Yes, we will receive a firearm from another FFL dealer for you for a fee of $60.00. This must be paid in cash before arranging the transfer. Please do not have guns shipped to us without first arranging it with us and completing the paperwork and paying the fee. You can also bring a firearm to us to be shipped to an FFL holder elsewhere for a fee of $40.00 plus shipping and insurance costs. We do not receive or ship firearms to or from non-FFL individuals for transfer.

We have more than one shipping location. Some items ship from the Prescott AZ location, and some ship from alternate warehouses. Items that ship from locations other than Prescott AZ are not available for pickup in our Prescott showroom. Your order may arrive in multiple packages from separate warehouses with separate invoices.

J&G Sales is located in Arizona. Shipments placed within Arizona or shipping to Arizona have 9.1% added unless an exemption is on file. Other states may be added to the list as laws change. For resale shipments AZ Form 5000A is the acceptable tax exemption form. A pdf file of it can be downloaded [HERE] and must be fully completed and submitted.

Taking possession of a gun in person at a dealer that is for someone else is called a “straw purchase” and is illegal per federal regulation. The person the firearm is intended for is the person that needs to complete the form 4473 and submit to the background check.

Federal regulation does allow for the purchasing of a firearm as a gift for another.

To prevent a straw purchase from occurring under the guise of a gift purchase, J&G Sales has chosen to limit gift purchases to married couples, or family members in direct decent: for example parent or grandparent for a child or grandchild, and vice versa. Siblings, aunts, uncles, etc could not buy for each other. Any firearm, including a gift, may not be transferred to any person that is legally prohibited from receiving firearms.

When buying a firearm via mail order for transfer through another dealer, J&G Sales will ship the order to a dealer of your choice. The transaction is controlled by the transferring dealer and all questions regarding details should be addressed to them.
